24 Hour Food and Nutrition Journey



Hello – I’m Hoa! And, like you, I work in a garment factory
here in Vietnam. We all work long hours. It’s tiring. Often we skip meals or don’t eat the right
things. And that can impact our health. Because if we don’t eat enough healthy foods that
affects our energy levels and can lead to problems. How do I know this? Well… Not so long ago I was a different person… And that had a big impact on how I looked, and on
my health… So let me take you on a quick journey to explain. Why do we need a healthy diet? It’s simple, really For energy to repair, build and protect our bodies And to stay healthy – mentally and physically! Our 24 hour health journey starts almost as soon as we wake up with breakfast It’s the most important meal of
the day and not to be missed! Without it you won’t have the energy
to kick-start your day and keep you going Start the morning with the right foods and
you're well on your way But remember that a single
food source can't supply all the nutrients we need to maintain our energy. Because our bodies need a variety of foods So try to eat something a little different for each meal. Which brings us to lunch! Did you know there are four main categories
of foods that we need to eat every day to prevent illness and help us through a busy day? Like bread and starchy foods like rice and noodles Milk is important too Because calcium keeps bones strong But having balanced proportions is also important Small amounts of sugar and fat Medium amounts of protein Larger quantities of rice,
bread and noodles Well, maybe not that much! And lots of fresh fruits and vegetables! Eating unhealthily can lead to anaemia and that’s not good at all! Not having enough of this important mineral
makes our bodies weaker And there are other side-affects too If you’re pregnant you'll need more iron
to keep yourself and your baby healthy. Preventing anaemia is not difficult Just eat more iron-rich foods It’s break-time! And another chance to eat something healthy Like a banana It’s finally home time for some of us and
over-time for others. But remember too much over-time can make you
tired So you might not eat well and skip the final meal of the day Dinner! Dinner time is your last chance to stock up
on what your body might have missed during the day. But not too much food and not too late And then get the sleep you need to look better and feel better So take a journey that can turn a healthy day into a healthy life. I did!
