Healthy Workplaces Campaign 2016–17

Europe’s workforce is becoming more and
more diverse and European workers are ageing. By 2030, workers over 55 are expected to make
up 30% or more of the total workforce in many EU countries. This creates challenges for employees, employers
and organisations in general. The official retirement age is increasing
in many EU Member States. Longer working lives may result in longer exposure to risks. With a higher proportion of older workers, there are likely to be more chronic health
problems in the workplace. Older workers can be more vulnerable to certain hazards. Therefore, prevention, rehabilitation
and return to work are becoming increasingly important concepts. Age discrimination must be eliminated. People’s health in later life is affected
by working conditions in earlier life. Today’s young workers are tomorrow’s older
workers. Therefore, to protect the health of workers of all ages, we must ensure safe and healthy working conditions throughout the whole working life. Learn more about the campaign “Healthy Workplaces for All Ages” on our website and download the special e-guide on managing occupational safety and health in the context of an ageing workforce. The website and all materials are available in 25 languages. Throughout the campaign, we aim to provide guidance, support and practical tools, sharing examples of good practice and successful policies. Organisations that address the challenges of an ageing workforce can ensure: A healthy and motivated workforce fostering competitiveness and innovation; Valuable skills and work experience remain within the organisation; Lower rates of sick leave and absenteeism leading to higher productivity; Lower staff turnover. 1. Very perfect, that there are people who think about it. There are also people who love their work, and the disease for them is not a reason to lie and is at home.
